Unemployment Rate Decline A Good Step – We Need to Do More
I am pleased to see a decrease in the Vermont unemployment rate: http://vtdigger.org/2014/05/16/vermonts-unemployment-rate-stays-second-lowest-nation/. We need to ensure, though, that the jobs being created in Vermont pay a living wage and provide sufficient benefits to allow working families to live with dignity. The minimum wage increase bill that passed the legislature this session is a step in the right direction ( I tried a floor amendment to increase it to $10.90), but we need to do more. I pledge to continue to advocate to reduce income inequality in our state.
