It was standing room only at the Governor’s press conference announcing IBM’s transfer of its chip production business, facilities and, most importantly its 4000 good paying jobs over to GlobalFoundries. I was honored to be able to stand with the governor and his team in announcing this long awaited good news.
While it all sounds very positive for Vermont and its economy , I couldn’t help take special note of the role of the chairs of the Essex select board and the Essex Junction Village trustees in the press conference. Their relief and optimism for their town and so many of their residents was palpable. It also had special meaning for me, as Sally and I spent 25 wonderful years raising our boys in Essex town and had so many friends who were life long members of the IBM family.
