After spending decades advocating for the Community of Vermont Elders (COVE) on issues relating to access to oral health care, it was wonderful to finally see this bill enacted.
Kudos to the Vermont Oral Health Care for All Coalition and Voices for Vermont’s Children for their persistent hard work on this issue.
Vermont will be the first state in the East to implement licensing for such mid level dental practitioners. (Alaska and Minnesota are already seeing its benefits).
It is all of our hope that dental therapists will meaningfully improve the delivery of dental care just as nurse practitioners and physician’s assistants have become an integral part of our medical profession.
The signing ceremony took place at the dynamic Williston campus of VTC, where we are so fortunate to already have a quality curriculum which will meet the licensing requirements under S.20.
